A Houlton man has been charged with making methamphetamine after a fire broke out in his garage.  36 year old Thomas Lowery was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Methamphetamine).  According to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland, Thursday night, drug agents from MDEA’s Aroostook Task Force responded to 5 Johnson Street in Houlton to assist Houlton Police after a fire broke out in the garage.  Based upon evidence found at the scene, agents say they believe that methamphetamine was being manufactured on the property.  The detached garage was flattened as a result of the fire.  The house was not damaged.  Lowery was transported to the Aroostook County Jail and was being held on $5,000 bail.
