A garage and another small building are a total loss after a fire in Houlton Wednesday evening.
Police Chief Milton Cone says they received a call around 6:15pm from a CBP pilot reporting a hangar on fire over the Houlton International Airport.
When crews arrived on scene they didn’t find a hangar, but a garage belonging to Jackett Enterprises on fire, with heavy smoke coming from the building.
Twenty-eight people were on scene fighting the fire for about three hours.
The garage and another small building are a total loss. Several vehicles and trailers parked around the building were also destroyed, while some were removed and saved.
The owner does have insurance.
The cause is still under investigation.
