PORTLAND, Maine (AP) – A homeless man who allegedly kicked a tourist for refusing his request for a handout has been arrested. Police say 45-year-old Richard Sneddon approached a man visiting from the United Kingdom at about 12:30 p.m. Monday and asked for money. The 59-year-old visitor refused, and police say Sneddon responded by kicking and pushing the victim. The victim was taken to Maine Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery for a leg injury. Police located Sneddon several hours later and charged him with felony assault. He is being held on $1,000 bail and faces arraignment Wednesday.
