Hodgdon Crash

| March 4, 2014

Maine State Police responded to a single motor vehicle crash early Monday afternoon on Route 2A in Hodgdon.  34 year old Maurice Boyce of Hodgdon was traveling south in a 1998 GMC Jimmy when he attempted to pass two vehicles.  After passing the first vehicle, Boyce saw a vehicle traveling northbound in the opposite lane.  Boyce had to pull back into his lane at a high rate of speed.  Boyce then hit the soft shoulder and lost control of the vehicle.  Boyce traveled back across the northbound lane and struck a snowbank overturning and coming to rest against a telephone pole.

Boyce’s passenger, 53 year old Crystal Barnes also of Hodgdon sustained minor injuries during the crash and was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital.  Barnes had to be extricated by the Jaws of Life by Houlton Fire Department.  Boyce was not injured in the crash.  Both Boyce and Barnes were wearing their seatbelts and neither airbag deployed.  The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
