The Maine State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Monday at approximately 2:43 PM.  The crashed occurred on Interstate 95 southbound in Hermon at mile maker 181.  The motor vehicle involved was a silver 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser.  The operator of the vehicle has been identified as Thomas Ellingwood age 47 of Hampden, ME.  Thomas was the only occupant of the vehicle.

As the vehicle was travelling southbound it travelled off the right side of the road down an embankment then rolled over multiple times and came to rest in the ditch along the interstate.  Investigation is continuing into why Thomas’ vehicle left the roadway.  State Police do not believe that any other vehicle was involved in this crash.  The weather was not a factor in the crash.
