A 16 year old girl was struck by a car while crossing the State Street Bridge in Presque Isle Wednesday evening. It happened about 5:20 p.m. According to Presque Isle Police, the girl was crossing the bridge from South to North and was in a travel lane when a vehicle that had just turned out of an alley way struck her. Police say the car was travelling less than 20 miles an hour. Lane Construction workers, who were working nearby, rushed to assist at the scene until police arrived. The 16-year old was transported by Crown Ambulance to TAMC with non-life threatening injuries. Presque Isle Police were assisted by several off-duty Crown Ambulance employees and Spencer Nadeau of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department.
