A sad day in Fort Fairfield today where funeral services were held for Abby Ladner at the Celebration Center. Ladner was a nursing student at UMPI and lost her life on November 16th after sustaining serious injuries in a car accident just weeks before. Abby’s Pageant Director Kevin Campbell said, “Abby was an outstanding outstanding young lady, full of promise, full of hope, dreams and aspirations from here to the heavens above.”
It’s how MANY people knew Abby Ladner: a caring person with a contagious smile. At just 19-years-old, Abby had her whole life ahead of her. A promising college student and the reigning Miss Northern Maine– before her life was tragically cut short after a head-on collision. Family and friends of the beautiful young lady prayed for a miracle as she fought for her life for 3 weeks- a fight that was too hard to win.
Abby’s Friend Mirandah Akeley said, “You didn’t even really have to know her personally to know that she was just a beautiful person inside and out, so peaceful, so kind, so willing to do anything for anybody.”
Abby’s Pageant Director Kevin Campbell said, “I will miss her smile, her beautiful eyes, and her warm and touching heart.”
Today hundreds came to say goodbye to Abby for the very last time.
Abby’s Friend Kelsie Wilson said, “She’s in a better place and I’m just glad she’s not in pain anymore.”
A Memorial Supper is being held in loving memory of Abby at the Fort Fairfield Elementary School on December 4th from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. The cost of the supper is 5 dollars per person, and donations will also be accepted; 100% of the proceeds will go to Ladner’s family.
