State Police say the woman whose body was found in the Penobscot River Monday has been identified. She is Barbara J. Goodwin, 51, of the Bangor area, whose identity was confirmed by the State Medical Examiner’s Office Tuesday, which also determined that Goodwin’s death is consistent with drowning. Detectives say she was last seen in Bangor on Thursday leaving a medical provider’s office and they continue to investigate where or how she went into the river. No one had reported her missing. Her identify was found with assistance from Bangor Police, who had prior contact with her. Anyone who had seen or had contact with Goodwin since Thursday is asked to call State Police in Orono at 866-2122.
