State Fire Marshal Investigators returned to Livermore Thursday attempting to pinpoint the cause of a fire that killed an elderly woman Tuesday night. Dorothy Goding’s body was found in the living room sitting in a reclining chair in the farmhouse she lived at for decades. The house was flattened in the fire and Goding died from smoke inhalation. She was 83.
Also, an elderly Augusta woman has died from her fire related injuries. Lorraine White, 81, died at Maine Medical Center in Portland where she was being treated for severe burns. Fire Investigators say her clothing caught fire while she was cooking. The fire took place at her residence at the Inn at City Hall on May 7.
The deaths of the two women this week bring the state’s fire death toll to eleven for the year.
