  • Construct a bat box with the Downeast Lakes Land Trust and learn to attract these helpful animals.

According to Bat Conservation International, a single bat can capture 500 to 1,000 mosquitoes in a single hour! While bats migrate or spend the winter months in caves, most bats spend summers in trees, under bridges or in old buildings. Learn to make a bat house that will serve as a perfect summer roost and nursery.

The cost to attend this program is $30, and advance registration is required. To register or gain further information, email the Downeast Lakes Land Trust at [email protected] or call 207-796-2100.
