Just after midnight Friday morning,  State Police attempted to stop a vehicle on Fort Street in Mars Hill for speeding.  The 2007 black Chevy truck failed to stop and a high speed pursuit ensued with Trooper Rob Flynn and Sgt Josh Haines following the vehicle at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The chase continued North on Route 1A through Easton and into Fort Fairfield turning onto Route 167 and eventually the Conant Road.  Fort Fairfield PD deployed spikes disabling all four tires, but the vehicle continued onward at a slower speed.  The truck turned back onto Route 1A for a short distance before turning onto a field road and getting stuck in the grass.  The operator, and sole occupant of the vehicle, 33 year old Jonathan Holt of Hartford, Maine was taken into custody.  Holt was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Eluding, Passing a Roadblock and Driving to Endanger.  Holt’s vehicle sustained the only damage during the incident.  State Police were assisted by Fort Fairfield PD, Border Patrol, Presque Isle PD, and the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department.
