Russell Currier of Stockholm is now an Olympian. Currier qualified for the US team based on four races in Italy and last night he received the Olympic Invitation. Currier will be remaining in Europe as he prepares for the Olympics. He will be competing in a World Cup race this weekend in Antholz. We were able to e-mail Currier earlier today and this is his reaction to making the team.
“It was a nerve-wracking road to qualifying this year. Starting from a few setbacks in the fall with qualifying races… and having to race in North America in December to get a last chance at the team in January wasn’t the easiest route, but I was very excited when the team naming was official. The amount of support that I keep receiving from back home is outstanding and very much appreciated.”
