It was Russell Currier day in Stockholm. The Olympian was the Guest of Honor and the Grand Marshal of this mornings parade.
Russ is our favorite Olympian. He has been a child of our town for ever and the whole town has helped raise him. We are very proud of him and all he has done.He has driven himself to this event and he is to shy to be the Parade Marshal, but we coaxed him into it.”
Russell Currier was joined by several other people on Roller skis who helped lead the parade. Currier said that having other people who share his passion lead the parade made it special also
Currier:It’s great i am not the only one leading this year. We have a large turnout I think this is the most roller skiers we have ever had. I think we were one of the first towns in the County to really push roller skiiing in the parade so I am proud for more than one reason.”
The Olympian was surprised when he was presented with two medals by the town at the reviewing stand. Teammates and specators started yelling USA and even though Currier remains very humble he was also very proud to be back home
Currier:” Not the best day for modesty. I am just here to ski. I am usually here every year and I always look forward to this and this year we are out front.”
Page:” To honor him for all his accomplishments up to now and what he is going to do in the future.”
