State Police say a Chelsea woman was seriously injured this afternoon when her car was struck by a large crane traveling along Route 9 in Chelsea. Troopers said 76 year old Sally Gousse pulled out of her driveway and into the path of the crane, owned by W. H. Green and Sons. The big rig swerved attempting to avoid the collision but struck the car on the driver’s side. The crane was operated by 52 year old Eugene Green of Manchester who was not injured. Gousse was taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral in Augusta. The crash closed Route 9 for about an hour and took place in front of Tim’s RV Service. The car was demolished. There was little damage to the crane.
