Community members came out to the Caribou High School track, bundled up in coats and mittens, walking on this snowy day to support Sherry Mockler. Sherry was diagnosed with cancer in April. Jackie Eye, a cancer survivor herself, put on this event to support her friend.

Jackie Eye “I found out that Sherry had cancer that was stage three Colorectal cancer, and I had Hodgkin disease, probably 10 years ago now, so it just really hit close to home being a cancer survivor.  I really just wanted to help her out.” said Eye.

Colorectal Cancer, is cancer of the intestines and colon. Sherry has already had three surgeries so far and needs one more in January. She is not able to work during this time, this benefit was to help her expenses.  Many of Sherry’s friends came to walk in her honor and told us how valued her friendship is.

“She has a very, very deep heart. She is very generous, caring, you can’t ask for a better friend than Sherry Mockler.” said Terry Hebert.

“She is just this one of a kind woman that is always there.  She is a very public person who attends everything, so whenever you are out and about you always run into Sherry and she is always wearing her great big bubbly smile.”Debbie Ouellette

Local shops and community members donated food and drinks for walkers.  A blanket was also donated to be raffled off.  All of the money raised will go to Sherry for her expenses while she is going through chemotherapy.
