KINGFIELD, Maine (AP) – Maine State Police say two runaway Canadian teenagers accused of stealing three vehicles and leading law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase were planning to visit a friend in New Brunswick when their GPS directed them to the border.
Spokesman Steve McCausland says a 16-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl from communities outside Ottawa, Ontario, were arrested Monday after abandoning a stolen truck and attempting to flee down an embankment in Kingfield.

Police say shots were fired by federal agents after another car stolen by the teens collided with two Border Patrol vehicles.

A state prosecutor says the boy has been charged with eluding an officer, passing a roadblock and aggravated criminal mischief.  The girl, who remains hospitalized for possible internal injuries, has not been charged.
