Local employees of Sears got some great news this morning. Workers were notified during a conference call with the company’s corporate office that Sears Holdings LLC had decided to reverse its decision to close the Aroostook Centre Mall location.
NewsSource 8 spoke with store manager Donella Leavitt who said that everyone is ecstatic about the news. Leavitt says this is the first time in the company’s history that a decision to close a store has been reversed.
Howard Riefs, Corporate Communications Director of Sears Holdings, says Sears and the mall property owner worked together a lease which will enable Sears to continue operating the store. Riefs says the company is happy to report that the 58 store associates will not be impacted.
