An off-duty Border Patrol Agent is facing several charges after an incident in Presque Isle Tuesday night. Michael Mielnicki was charged with Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention, Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Mischief, Cruelty to Animals and Possession of a Usable Amount of Marijuana. Presque Isle Police officers were called to the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center after a complaint was made that a tenant there was discharging fireworks in his room and in the parking lot. When officers made contact with Mielnicki he became combative. He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail and is scheduled to appear at the Presque Isle District Court in January. Mielnicki is a Border Patrol Agent with the Department of Homeland Security assigned to Jackman. The Border Patrol has released a statement in regards to Mielnicki.
