It is officially December and that means that most holiday shoppers are already in full swing. We spoke with some businesses at Aroostook Centre Mall who told us how their Black Friday and small business Saturday panned out.
“Black Friday was awesome, we started out a little bit slow, but as the day progressed it got very steady and we were very happy with our outcome,” Alison Casey, a Key Holder at Trader Joe’s told us.
“Our sales were up for Friday, but this is the first year we did 10% off everything store-wide so we are experimenting a little bit, and of course Saturday we were up a little bit. So we were pleased this year,” Said Paula Reynolds, Co-Owner of The Old Rustic Attic.
With deals like 10-25% store wide, it’s no wonder crowds were flocking to the mall. Although this is a big time for businesses to make money, Paula Reynolds told us it’s much more than that.
“We get to see customers that we haven’t seen all year, and they keep coming back to see us every year,”said Reynolds.
And speaking of one customer that we only see around Christmas time, deals here at the mall were so good, even Santa Clause was out here on Black Friday. We asked Santa if he could tell us about his experience.
Santa responded with, “Black Friday was tremendous! A lot of people were out early to get the deals on the start of the Christmas season; Including Santa Clause who went up and down the mall trying to get the best deals I could for the presents for the kids so I did very well as well.”
With feedback from Santa and Stores at the mall, I think it’s safe to say, Black Friday 2013 was a success.
