You see the action on the basketball court but there’s a lot of activity going on behind-the-scenes to make sure that the Eastern Maine tournament goes smoothly.
Jerry – “What people don’t see is the number of people behind-the-scenes between the people up in the main entrance to the people that I’m supervising down on the floor,” said MPA Tournament Co-Director, Jerry Goss. “The people checking in, the teams, cheerleaders, and bands out back, to the people at the scorers table. There’s a lot of people involved.”
There’s more to a successful basketball tournament than the players on the court. There’s all kinds of behind-the-scenes work going on to make sure that the complete tournament runs smoothly.
“If we can stay behind the scenes, that means things are flowing smoothly,” said Goss. “So far this year, we had a real enjoyable time and it has gone on extremely well.”
Everything has been running smoothly and so far there have been very few problems.
“We work hand-in-hand. We spend a lot of time meeting ahead of time to make sure that we move the basic Set up from the Mecca into the new Cross Center,” said Goss.
It’s a new building, there will be many new memories over the years as the eastern Maine tournament continues to flourish.
“It is not the auditorium, it’s a new chapter and is already writing its own story,” added Goss. “If you were here Tuesday night for that Penquis game that’s what basketball and Eastern Maine is all about it.”
