HERMON, Maine (AP) – Wildlife officials are investigating the shooting death of a bald eagle in central Maine.
The Maine Warden Service says it’s seeking the public’s help in determining who shot the eagle, which was found near Hermon Pond in Hermon earlier this week. It’s illegal to shoot an eagle.
Maine Operation Game Thief, a nonprofit organization that works with the Warden Service, is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the shooting. People with information can call 1-800-ALERT-US.
