Even though spring is around the corner, it’s still cold outside and there’s still time to enjoy fun outdoor winter sports! That’s what kids did in Ashland over the weekend; where they got to snow sled for free at the Ashland Fish and Game Club. News Source 8’s Angela Christoforos reports…
Gunnar Carter said, “Snowmobiling is smelling the gas, and jumping it and it’s fun, it’s so fun.”
Kids aged 12 and under got to sled for free. It’s an effort by the Ashland Fish and Game club to get more kids interested in the outdoor sport.
Chairman of the Ashland Fish and Game Club Charles Tucker said, “Without the young we have no future in any outdoor sport, that’s where our vote will come from in the future to keep the outdoor sports active and it’s where the money will come for all the outdoor sports.”
The red sled used for rides also appeared on the History Channel’s ” Mountain Men” series, and Charlie Tucker was also a star on the series!
President of the Ashland Fish and Game Club Rita Morgan said, “It’s a hot looking sled, everybody likes it, it catches the eye, it catches the kids eye. You can go anywhere here in Ashland and the little kids will come along and say Charlie Tucker where’s that sled!”
Gunnar Carter said, “I’m a big fan of the show and I like to see Charlie and his friend.”
The club hopes that getting youngsters involved will keep this outdoor sport around for generations to come. The Ashland Fish and Game Club hopes to host free snow sled rides for kids annually.
