On Saturday, January 18, just after 1:30 p.m., the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting that an apartment at 77 Main St. in Mars Hill had been burglarized. Deputies responded and learned that several bottles of prescription medications, clothing and jewelry had been stolen.
The same day, Deputies developed evidence that identified 22-year-old Renaldo Jones of Mars Hill as a suspect. Jones was subsequently located at Scovil Apartments
in Mars Hill and arrested. He is charged with burglary, stealing drugs, theft and violation of conditions of release. Jones is also charged with assaulting an adult female in Mars Hill shortly before encountering the Deputies. She was not seriously injured. Jones was transported to the county jail, where he remains.
Sheriff’s Deputies recovered most of the medication, all of the clothing and all of the jewelry with the assistance of Sheriff’s Office police dog, Maxx. Jones will make an initial appearance in Caribou Superior Court on April 22.
