The Anah Shrine Circus is back in town!
Assistant Circus Chairman Jim Dwyer said, “We literally prepare a year in advance and it’s been a year in the making we have 130 volunteers that are going to be here this evening to help bring off every show.”
Attendees can expect to see traditional old time favorites acts, and a brand new act called “the Human Fuze.”
“Literally there’s a gentlemen who gets sewn to a cross bow, he is lit on fire and literally flies through the air on fire from one end of the arena to the area,” said Dwyer.
And what’s a circus without clowns? There will be 30-40 of them clowning around, and there will be plenty of snow cones and cotton candy.
Ring Master Charley Van Buskirk said, “This is a glittering concentration of pretty much everything a circus should be. Beautiful women, lots of excitement, fast action, and some very well educated animals.”
Between 12 to 14 thousand people are expected to attend the 6 shows being held through Saturday.
Aerialist Susan Vidbel said, “I think it’s the excitement it’s a fairy tale land that can get you away from everyday life and you just run away and even though you’re not in the circus you’re joining one for the 2 hours that you’re here.”
This is the 51st year that the circus has come to Presque Isle. If you can’t make it Thursday there’s still a chance Friday at 3 and 7, and on Saturday at 10, 2 and 7.
