“You can walk, run, crawl, jitterbug, you can do whatever you want on this course. It’s essentially here for everybody to have fun,” says Color Run Co-Director, Heather Sincavage.”
Sincavage is talking about the Color Run Presque Isle 5K, and it’s back for a second year. It’s a collaborative effort by Wintergreen Arts Center and the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
“We’re working together bringing out people who support the arts, people who are runner enthusiasts. Just to come together and have a really good time,” says Rowena Forbes, the Executive Director of Wintergreen Arts Center.
Organizers of the event are excited to have the Presque Isle Downtown Revitalization Committee and Presque Isle Healthy Main Street program as their lead sponsor.
“It’s super that we’re having this event in the downtown. One of our main driving focuses is to get people in the downtown area active, moving around, families, people doing things. What better of an event to get all these people down here and enjoying it and being healthy,” says Leigh Smith, the Chair of the Presque Isle Downtown Revitalization Committee.
Last year over 400 people showed up for the run and Sincavage says this year, they already have a lot of people registering.
“I think it’s highly anticipated because it went so well last year. It’s just such a fun day, and people just want to get out and have a great time. Which is exactly what we’re looking to do,” says Sincavage.
The proceeds will go toward arts in Aroostook County. The race will take place on August 30th starting at 8:00am at Riverside Park. Don’t forget to wear all white!
