Merrill, ME: A Merrill woman has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident.  According to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, 28 year old Paula Gardiner was charged after deputies found her 2003 Mitsubishi Galant on it’s roof, in a ditch in Littleton on Tuesday evening.  The vehicle was abandoned and significantly damaged.  Over an hour later, Deputies found Gardiner.  She admitted to driving the vehicle.  She had an 18 year old passenger with her at the time.  Both women had minor injuries, but had been wearing their seatbelts.  The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but speed is believed to be a factor.  The vehicle is a total loss.  Gardiner was issued a summons to appear in Houlton District Court.
